About our Scout group

1st Ealing North is a local Scout Group in the London Borough of Ealing in West London. The Group forms part of the Ealing and Hanwell Scout District, which covers the whole of the borough, the district is part of the Greater London Middlesex West Scout County which operates through over 120 Scout Groups in the London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington & Chelsea, and City of Westminster. The Groups are organised into 12 Districts.

Although the 1st Ealing North Scout Group was first registered in October 1979, its origins go back as far as July 1942 when 5th Ealing (St. Peter’s) was first formed.

Since then there has been a number of amalgamations of Scout Groups in Ealing:

  • In March 1970, The 5th Ealing (St Peter’s) merged with the 21st Ealing (Ascension) Group, first registered in May 1945, forming the 26th Ealing Group.

  • In October 1979, the 26th Ealing Group, merged with the 20th Ealing (St. Benedict’s) Group, first registered in June 1943, and the current 1st Ealing North was formed.

When it was formed the group had about 75 members, of which 50 were scouts and we are currently the largest Scout Group in the District with over a 100 young members in our sections.

In 2019, 1st Ealing North Scout Group celebrated 40 years of scouting.

Our Group was one of the first in the district to have its own website which was first launched in the spring of 2010, and has been growing ever since. The executive committee, section Leaders, parents and young members of each section contribute to the website.
