1st Ealing North are the only Scout Group in the District with a dedicated Scout Headquarters which was built in the early 1900s.
The building is situated in Montpelier Park, next to Montpelier School.
Access to the park and 1st Ealing North Scout HQ is from Montpelier Road & Mount Avenue. In the evenings and weekends there is parking available in Mount Avenue.
The Montpelier Park Site once belonged to one of the leading public girls’ school in the country. It was called Princess Helena College and was opened by the Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII) in July 1882. Today the wood stands on what were the College’s sports pitches.
The formal arboretum park contains unusual trees, alongside a mature nature area with a woodland glade, wildlife pond and deadwood habitats. The council recently developed a play area.
1st Ealing North Group is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the HQ Building, Ealing Council is responsible for the maintenance of the park area.
Group Parents, Children and Leaders all participate in our regular DIY or Spring Clean Days.
Building Maintenance is organised by the Group Scout Leader.
